What's left?

The pace has finally slowed with the remodel. The trade’s people only make an appearance when their skills are required.

What’s left? The walls and floors are bare. Very few of the lights, sensors, and controllers have been installed. Paneling, laminate flooring, tile, heating mats, and wall coverings need to be installed. The master bathroom has not been started except for the installation of a really cool toilet. I'll write more about that later. The closet doors and many of the other doors need to be installed. The kitchen door requires refinishing and the hardware replaced. The best way to summarize what is needed to complete the first phase of the remodel would go something like this: a lot!

Weekends are the only time I can make any progress on the remodel. It looks like my weekends will be occupied for a very long time.  George

I installed a small section of flooring for the guest bathroom so that the paneling can be installed. Once that's done, the guest sink can be plumbed. No toilet for the guest bathroom for a while.

The first kitchen cabinet is installed with many more to come. It's easier to install the upper cabinets before the lower cabinets. We ran into a snag with the IH cooktop. Parts are on order, but it will take at least two weeks before we get those parts. From my understanding, this will be a very unusual installation as the majority of Japanese just order the entire kitchen unit and not the individual parts. Stay tuned...
