Our closest town to Tsukahara is Yufuin. Yufuin is located southwest from us and about a 10 minute drive down the volcano. It’s a popular tourist spot and often the hotels are fully booked. Tourists come from all over the world to enjoy the scenery and hot springs. I was told that some of the restaurants feature exquisite Japanese cuisine...too expensive for my taste.
Yufuin has a varied assortment of shops, restaurants, inns, and hot springs.
There’s a beautiful lake with walking paths and a river. The river is lit by fireflies in the summer.
Lucky
enjoyed the fishing opportunities.
Most people prefer the view of Mt. Yufu from the Yufuin side.
Since I’m biased, I think the Tsukahara side has the most beautiful view of the
volcano. You can be the judge…Yufuin or...
Tsukahara...
I think Kiley
made up her mind… George
Lovely pictures!

ReplyDeleteI miss Yufuin...
Thank you. Yufuin is a great place to visit. The prices are a little inflated, but if you let the shop owners know you're a local, they usually discount the price. An onsen in Yufuin only charges 200 yen to locals. Gas prices at Eneos are reduced by 3 yen per liter to locals. It's always a good idea to shop at the local markets after 5pm to get the hugely discounted prices for bentos.
DeleteThank you for the info! I did not know there is a local discount.
