The concrete mess is gone...yeah!!!

We have been very stressed because of the concrete mess in the front yard. Lucky has been stressed and has not been able to sleep very well. Chasing the ball was just too much for him.

Lucky fell asleep chasing the ball. Poor Lucky. Well, there is help on the way.

First, I want to thank Mr. Fujita from Nikken. He listened to Erika's horror story about our concrete mess. He made a special trip to our home and brought a specialist. We were given some options and decided to remove everything and start over. He sympathized with us and promised to make everything right.

The first day after Golden Week he gave us a call and set aside time from his busy schedule to start work on our yard. Five workers showed up with several trucks and equipment. They removed the concrete mess within a few hours...AMAZING!

It was quick and painless. The workers made it look easy. They were so fast and organized. All I could say was, "Wow!"

After the removal of the concrete, they immediately dumped crushed rock and compacted it. To finish the first day, they began installing new framing.

It already looked so much better!

Rain was in the forecast for the second day. The rain did not slow the workers down at all. On the second day they were able to finish all of the framing. The frames were straight and level. It was a beautiful thing to see. All I could say was, "Wow!"

We were surprised to hear that they were going to pour concrete and be finished by the third day...Wow!!! The metal mesh they used was of much higher quality and thicker. The attention to detail was impressive. They even protected the garage and house from spilled concrete with plastic covers.

Oh my goodness!!! Look at all the vehicles and people. On the third day we met the specialists who were going to be in charge of finishing the concrete surfaces. These people are highly trained and experienced. They KNOW concrete.

As I watched them work all I could do was shake my head and of course say, "Wow!"

They were done in four hours. The finished product is absolutely beautiful.

Yes, highly skilled would be an accurate description and fast...really fast.

The driveway has a rough texture for traction in the snow. The upper area is flat and has a super smooth surface. This is where the gazebo will be installed. More on that in a later post.

Thank you again Mr. Fujita and Nikken for an absolutely incredible job. He certainly made everything right again and for that, we are eternally grateful. Hontoni domo arigato gozaimasu!
