Frame finished and glass mounted

Seems like Blogger has changed a few things as far as posting goes. I'll try to muddle my way through this. Let me start by describing the pics. The glass frame was a real challenge to complete, but all's well that end's well. Here's the frame with the slots cut for the panel.

The frame required a bridle joint so that I could assemble the frame with the glass panel slid into place.

My favorite tool for making joints.

Here's the finished joint. Nice and tight along with being very strong.

Ready for assembly. three of the sides were glued together and then the panel was slid into place. The fourth side was then glued in place.

Before any of that could happen, the frame needed to be mortised for the rollers. This detail allows the panel to slide open and closed.

Cleaned up the edges with a chisel.
With the rollers installed and frame painted, the frame is ready to be assembled. The hole is for adjusting the rollers.

The panel is assembled and the glue is drying. Please don't touch!
Here's the back side. The wooden frame makes it easy to move the glass around. This is the first time I've framed one of my panels. Not sure if I'll do this again...too much work!
First time I had a chance to see the panel with sunlight. I think it came out pretty good. I used this window in the workshop to give me a good idea of what the panel will look like in the house. This also gives me a chance to do any touchups if required.

These are the rails for the panel. Drilled, countersunk holes, trimmed, and painted...ready to go.

Final resting place. Can you tell that the doggies are so excited to see the new panel? I'm glad that this project is complete. Time to move onto bigger and better things. Now, where is that bear lamp? More on that later.

Glass panel dedication

Finished cutting the glass for the panel. It's been cold in the studio, so soldering has been slow. I still need to make a wood frame that fits into one of our windows. The panel will be able to slide back and forth so the window can be opened. Please stay tuned for the finished project.
I'm dedicating this panel to both Erika and George. George is the frog (I love frogs) and Erika is the bird (she loves Blue Jays). She also loves irises. Gardening has always been a shared passion of ours. I haven't seen the panel in the sun yet, but I'm hoping the panel shows light breaking through the dark clouds and being reflected in the marsh-like foreground. Our marraige started 27 years ago to the day and we started our lives together close to the Suisun Marsh.

BTW, hey person with the initials KR...your email doesn't work. I've tried several times. Please send me a response.

Pizza in the snow?!

Yeah, why not? Sure it's cold and there is snow on the ground, but I gotta have my pizza. So, you haven't lived until you have had our Galiano meatball thick crust pizza. Damn it's good!!! We have been experimenting with sour dough crust and I think it turned out vey well. I really don't understand why people make these huge brick pizza ovens and use a cord of wood to heat it up. Pretty silly way to do things. This stainless steel oven is portable and built like a tank. Takes only 10 minutes to heat up and uses kitty litter pellets as fuel. Simple to cook and clean. I can cook pizzas all day with this thing. Cheers!
